My name is Sharon Moore; I am a Clinical Psychologist and completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Auckland in 2010. I am an Irish New Zealander with a young family and have lived in Auckland for over 17-years.
I have a strong interest in both adult and maternal mental health and have worked with a broad cross-section of people who call New Zealand home. I employ a strengths-based, collaborative approach to help clients make sense of their difficulties and improve their coping and sense of efficacy. I utilise a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Mindfulness in my clinical practice. I have had the privilege of working with many women who report that engaging in therapy, which has focused on mindfulness, has helped them to rediscover the joys of live and motherhood in particular.
I have experience working with individuals with a variety of presenting difficulties including: Depression, Post-natal depression, Anxiety, Grief, Trauma, Work place stress, Relationship problems, and Difficulties adjusting to stressful life events and transitions. I have worked in community mental health and primary care settings and with non-government organisations.
My Doctoral thesis investigated the influence of yoga on maternal health in first time mothers in New Zealand. In addition to my undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in psychology, I have also completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree. I am a registered psychologist with the NZ Psychologists board and a member of the NZ Psychologists Society.
